The 90s nostalgia keeps on going. WKND have come through with this Gold Plated Football in the classic early 90s shape – wider in the middle, but still rounded at the ends. Couple this with some tiny wheels, clunky shoes and ridiculously oversized jeans and you’re all set.

(It always feels a bit wrong, as an Englishman, to be calling these a “football shape”. Really, it’s more of a “handegg”, but there you go. American-dominated industry, and all that.)

Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. The widest point of this football-shaped deck is 8.875″, but it narrows to 8.75″ at the front truck – and just 8.5″ at the back.
There’s a couple of ways you could set this up as a result. Most people would probably go for an 8.75″ axle to match the front end, and just accept the fact the rear axle is slightly exposed; something like one of Film’s 6.0″ trucks would be a good pick in that situation.
However, you could also make the argument for using a shorter truck like the Ace 44 to keep the axle ends hidden – especially if you wanted to use a wider or offset wheel.
