Joe Fitzpatrick’s first pro wheel on Speedlab is basically a clone of the 9th St DIY wheels, only with a slightly softer 100a urethane in a new “Championship Formula”. What does that mean? Honestly, we have no idea. But being as Speedlab have a long track record of making truly phenomenal wheels, we’re going to trust that these are also bloody excellent in every way.

(Also, that graphic is giving us proper Macho Man vs Ric Flair flashbacks, which is a nice bonus.)

Key specs: 54mm in diameter, 33mm wide, 21mm contact patch. You know, just like the 9th St DIY wheels. We’d still recommend something a little softer for most British streets – the difference between 101a and 100a isn’t enough to make a huge difference when faced with brick paved town centres that haven’t changed since 1970.
