Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. The widest point of this Brian Drake deck from Moonshine Skateboards is 9.25″, but it narrows to 8.8″ at the front truck and just 8.6″ at the back.
If you’ve read the descriptions for any of the other shaped decks we sell, you know there’s a tendency for us to recommend the 9″ Gullwing Pro IIIs. Unsurprisingly, we’re going to do the same here. They’ll stick out a little bit, but a board like this really demands some Gullwings underneath it.
You could also make an argument for the 8.75″ axle of Film’s 6.0″ trucks, too. That’ll keep things a bit tidier, and might be an idea if you’re going for some wider or more offset wheels, but for our money, you’d be better with the Pro IIIs in almost all scenarios.
