Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. The widest point of this Dan Cates deck from Death Skateboards is 9.1″, but it’s more like a straight 9″ at the front truck and just 8.25″ at the back.
That 9″ front suggests you probably want to use something like the Ace 55s (the red baseplate ones would look particularly good with this graphic) to match up with the width at the front truck and leave the wheels exposed at the back. However, if that stresses you out too much (or if you’re using chunky wheels), maybe split the difference a bit and step down to the 8.75″ axle of Film’s 6.0″ trucks. You’ll still get a bit of exposed wheel at the back, but it won’t be quite as drastic (or as heavy) as using the larger trucks.
