Looking for something wide but still relatively easy to throw about? This pool shaped version of the Black Skull deck from Death Skateboards eschews the usual 15″+ wheelbases for a much more manageable 14.25″ wheelbase and a big, long nose and tail.

Because shaped decks can vary heavily in width through the length of the board, choosing trucks isn’t as simple as it is with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle-shaped street deck. The widest point of this deck is 9″, but it narrows to 8.75″ at the front truck and a comparatively tiny 8.25″ at the back truck.
For us, the “correct” way to set this up would be to use something with an 8.75″ axle, keeping things nice and tight at the front and having some exposed wheels at the back. That means the absolute best fit for this would be Film’s 6.0 trucks – which is handy, because they’re absolutely fantastic. We can’t recommend them enough.
