As the Fractal is a shaped deck, choosing trucks isn’t as simple as with a straight-sided popsicle. The width at the back truck is 8.25″, and the width at the front is 8.5″, so we recommend you split the difference and go for some Ace 44s – which have an 8.39″ axle.
You could also use something with an 8.25″ axle like the any of Film’s 5.5″ trucks to keep things tight at the back, or run something a little wider like a 149mm Gullwing Shadow DLX for a larger grind area and more stability at the front, but have the ends of the axle sticking out slightly at the back. Lots of options with this one.
Note that Darkroom state that this deck is 32.25″ long, but we measured it as 32″; 32.25″ is the measurement you get if you push the tape down to follow the curves of the nose and tail along the top ply, which is not how we measure the length of a deck – we keep the tape flat in a straight line from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail.
So if you see different measurements for this deck elsewhere, now you know why!
