We don’t generally bother with reissues, but Brand-X is doing them properly; original moulds, high-quality wood and properly hand-screened decks mean these are as close as you’ll get to the decks people were skating in the 1980s.
That said, this X-Con ICARUS puts one of their classic graphics onto a modern shape; you still get all four wheel wells, hand-screened graphics and the solid wood of the reissues, but with modern pool concave and a proper kicknose, making this the best of both worlds.

Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. The widest point of this X-Con deck from Brand-X is 9.5″, but it narrows to 8.8″ wide at the front truck and just 8.625″ at the back.
If you’ve browsed through the shaped decks on our website before, you’ll know what these measurements mean: we’re going to recommend the 9″ Gullwing Pro IIIs. Really, any excuse to use Gullwings works for us.
That said, you could also use the 9″ “classic” Ace 55s – or even the 8.75″ long Film 6.0 trucks – if you wanted something more “modern”, but why would you? Just slap the Gullwings on this and call it a day.
