We don’t generally bother with reissues, but Brand-X is doing them properly; original moulds, high-quality wood and properly hand-screened decks mean these are as close as you’ll get to the decks people were skating in the 1980s.
The Dragon Stick II is a mid 80s shape, with what Brand-X call “Spoon Nose Medium Concave” (translated: a functionally flat nose and a fairly mellow concave), and all four wheel wells present and correct; this should be a good all-round board for the more old-school-inclined out there. And, for a bonus note, this deck is drilled with both new-school and old-school truck mounting patterns, so you can even bolt your OG Indys or Trackers on it without modification!

Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. The widest point of this Dragon Stick II deck from Brand-X is 10.5″, but it narrows to 9.75″ wide at the front truck and just 8.8″ at the back.
With a deck like this, you definitely want to run a truck close to the width at the front truck and leave the wheels exposed at the back; we’d recommend the 9.45″ axle of the new Ace AF1 77s as a good match for this one.
