Powell-Peralta 52mm Nano Cubic

Powell-Peralta 52mm Nano Cubic

The new 52mm Nano Cubic from Bones has been widely promoted as a new freestyle wheel by Andy Anderson. Honestly? It isn’t. If you want a freestyle wheel, there are countless wheels that are a better option.

But if all you want is a small wheel that covers the axle nut to stop it getting absolutely bashed in when doing slappies or bailing 360 flips, you can do a lot worse.

So why do we not recommend these for freestyle? Simple: despite being offset (which we like), they have barely any axle coverage (which we don’t) and have a diameter and a profile which results in a reduced footprint in rail (reducing stability).

For comparison, the Sure Grip Fame – a rollerskate wheel! – has only 0.45mm less axle coverage than the Nano Cubic, but at a 57mm diameter and with the widest point of the wheel being considerably further from the axle nut, it’ll result in a much more stable rail stand (or primoslide, if that’s your sort of thing).

Diameter: 52mm

Roll surface: 23.3mm
Axle coverage: 9.05mm (2.65mm over the axle nut)
