This Ben Broyd deck from Blast Skates has had a remodel since the original release; it’s no longer an early 90s football shape, and now has a more typical “shaped deck” profile – a nice and full tail, a wide pocket for the front foot, and a tapered nose. To us, this feels like a big improvement!
Due to the slight curve of both rails, you’re probably going to want some slightly smaller trucks than the width suggests. Check the description below for details so you can figure out how best to set up this shaped deck.

Choosing trucks for a shaped deck isn’t as simple as with a “normal” straight-sided popsicle. Although this Ben Broyd pro model from Blast isn’t as wildly shaped as some of their other decks, the 9.75″ width in the middle narrows to 9.375″ at the front truck and 9″ at the back.
As such, this deck would work perfectly with some classic Ace 55s or the fancy Ace AF1 66s, but you could also go for the 9.1″ axle of the Film 6.5s or the taller Paris 169 TKPs if you wanted to run bigger wheels – but note that the Paris come in at 9.3″ wide, so they’d stick out a bit at the back but give you a bit more stability up at the front!
